I think the official name of the townland is Currygranny in Clongesh civil parish. I also located another brother named John Gannon baptized March 8 1857.

I located an 1884 civil death record for a Michael Gannon who could possibly the father of William Gannon. See fourth record at link. Informant was son Michael.

You may want to search Ancestry.com It appears William died in May 1898 Wife was Mary Mulligan.

I have verified all siblings of William and have copies of birth certificates.  William also had a brother Michael who stayed in Co. Longford.  Two sister, Elizabeth and Catherine  immigrated to Boston, Mass.

but I find no mention of William or brother John.   William seems to have disappeared from Co. Longford along with  John.  I descend from son Thomas. Even his children immigrated to Boston.  I have a picture of headstone of William Gannon, will try to enclose it.  Why would he have gone to NJ ??  Would have thought he would be near his sisters.  Sisters immigrated about 1880.

Patsy:

Very little information was kept in Ireland in the 1800s regarding who emigrated. Emigrants purchased tickets and got on ships with no officials involved.
