Hello Hazel

I would start with Fermanagh Genealogy Centre based at Enniskillen Castle.

www.fermanaghgenealogy.org

Also www.rootsireland.ie are a source of extensive records for births, marriage and deaths, as well as other census and substitute census material.

There was a William White farming in Tattenabuddagh, Co. Fermanagh in the tithe applotment records of 1833:

http://www.irishgenealogyhub.com/fermanagh/tithe-applotment-books/parish-of-aghalurcher.php

They were gone by the time of Griffiths Valuation of 1862 (which fits with the family having moved to Canada in 1853).

Family seem likely to have been Church of Ireland, so if you are looking for baptism, marriages & burials search Aghalurcher parish’s records. They are not on-line so far as I am aware but there is a copy in PRONI in Belfast. There were several COI churches in the parish so you may have to check more than 1 set of records to find the one this family attended. If you are unable to go yourself, you could employ a researcher. Researchers in the PRONI area: http://sgni.net

thanks , thats a help, confirms some of what we already have, we are also looking for marriages, to confirm  maiden names of wives, not having much luck with that, we know the names kerr, balfour  and White are involved, not sure the best place to look for marriages ,  i  won't be able to get to belfast,  unless health improves,  but some of my younger cousins are talking abt ireland. so we will see, hazel white-gerodo

William Arthur White, born in 1832 in Ireland, faced family tragedies and migration challenges. With his mother, Elizabeth Kerr, and sisters, they sailed to Ontario in 1853. Their family ties in Ireland included various marriages, but information remains scarce about their origins. Unraveling this history feels like solving a tough level in the  challenging, but ultimately rewarding.

There are not likely to be very many records of the family in Ireland. Most of our pre 1901 censuses  have bene destroyed and the only land record seems to be their mention in the tithes.

You may be able to find baptism, marriage and burial records in the Aghalurcher parish records but as mentioned previously they are not on-line. If you want to access them you will need to pay a researcher near Belfast to go through them in PRONI (the public record office).
