WIGGINS Family

Hi am searching for any information on the family of William Francis WIGGINS born about 1812 Dublin Ireland and his wife Margaret Nee Downing born about 1816 Dublin Ireland. They Emigrated to Middlex London after 1835 aged 22 and 18 respectivelyand befor 14th Febuary 1841 as records i have show Henrietta aged six years old and the family living in Middlesex London in 1841 in the Census. Their daughter Henrietta Adelaide WIGGINS wasborn approximatley in 1835 and emigrated with her parents as an infant aged six years or younger.

William and Margaret were married approximately 1834.

They went on to have five more children all born in London from 1841 onwards.

I have information from 1841 onwards but would like any information prior to the family emigrating for London.

Many thanks

Do you know what religious denomination your Wiggins family where ?

I think this family were likely Church of Ireland as there are very few Wiggins baptisms or marriages in Catholic records.  'Dublin' can refer to the city, suburbs or county - most of the Catholic and Church of Ireland records for parishes in Dublin city are available on the free IrishGenealogy website. A search of these shows a number of Wiggins records but no sign that I can see of a likely baptism for your William or of a baptism of their child or a marriage between William and Margaret.  Maybe they lived in a parish in County Dublin not available online or where records do not survive...

p.s. the 1841 census shows another child born in Ireland, Emma Sophie age 4 months in 1841...

Hello Viv, Wiggins is one of my root names ( my maternal grandfather) and I have several confirmed in my tree. I’m still trying to confirm where exactly in Ireland they originally came from but everything points to Donegal. I have family marrying in Rathmullan and Ramelton. My Wiggins settled in Glasgow, Scotland. Have you dna tested ? I’ve found it extremely useful when trying to confirm or dismiss certain lines.

Thanks Shanew147 for your info. The Wiggins are my childrens paternal surname. I am divorced from their father though remain  close to the Wiggins family.  My ex sister inlaw Alex Wiggins has done a great deal of family research on her husbands Wiggins family however like me its the Irish connection which is a challenge to research. May I ask which Wiggins you have.

Just out of interest my paternal side is Hawthorne and my great great great grandfather George Hawthorn(e) and his wife Mary had a son my great grandad Joseph Hawthorn(e) who was born in Ireland presumably in County Down from what NZ records i have.  Joseph  married a Jane Graham in Portadown, County Armagh. Joseph and Jane emmigrated out to New Zealand and this is where my family lines are. I had the opportunity to visit the area and the church they were married in a few years ago and was shown around by a member of Ireland Reachingout.

Many thanks, Viv Hawthorne with an e.
