Where in County Cork did the O'Learys live?

My GG Grandfather and GG Grandmother were born in County Cork Ireland. Their names are Jeremiah O'LEARY and Ellen O'Connor. I have no other info on them. They had a son, Humphrey (my great grandfather) born in Ireland about 1842, died in Lawrence, MA on 15 Dec 1915. Humphrey immigrated to America about 1866. He settled in Massachusetts. I have U.S. information on Humphrey (two marriages, children, cenus records, draft and death certificate), but I CAN NOT find anything that would tell me where he was from in Ireland (besides county Cork) and if he had siblings, etc. I have checked numerous online Irish records and can find nothing on either Humphrey or his parents, Jeremiah and Ellen. Please help me find Humphrey and his parents. Humphrey's first wife was Margaret Guard also born in Ireland in May of 1852/3 died in Massachusetts in Apr. 1903. Her parents were Patrick Guard and Mary McCarthy all born in Ireland.(I don't know what county) I have only some U.S. information on Margaret Guard. If you could help me with this brick wall I would be so happy. Thank you for this opportunity to ask these questions.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked www.irishgenealogy.ie which is a free Irish government site which has records for the Diocese of Cork and Ross which is about half the Co. Cork churches. I located an 1836 marriage in Bandon for Jerh Leary and Ellen Connor. Also saw three baptismal records ohn 1837 Jerh 1839 Tim 1842  but no Humphrey. Here is a link to the Bandon register and maybe you can find him  http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0017

Roger,

I'm not sure this is my Jeremiah O'Leary, but I will keep this information handy until proven otherwise. Thank you for your reply and for the search.  I am determined to keep breaking down this brickwall bit by bit!

A couple points. You will find that the O was dropped in many 19th century records. You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you will match someone who has more info on your O'Learys and O'Connors.

I found my O'Leary church records in Kerry diocese. It seems that the western part of county Cork; had their records in county kerry. My family came from the Adrigole RC church. Joe O'Leary

My GG Grandfather was William O Leary. He moved from Adrigole in west Cork to Snipefield Ardfert, Co Kerry circa 1840's. He had seven sons of two of whom were named Humphrey and Jermiah (my GG Father). Having regard to similar family 1st names it seems probable that my GG Grandfather William (who moved to Ardfert, Kerry from Adrigole) may have been a close relation perhaps even a brother to Humphrey who emigrated to Massachusetts ?
