Walsh/Dwyer

Limerick

Hi, I am new here so hope I doing the right thing.

 I am seeking information on Cornelius John Walsh (1795-1881) (probably born either Limerick City or Croom and died Croom Workhouse aged 86) and his wife Ann Dwyer (possibly either Baptised 8 July 1807 St Munchin, Limerick; Parents Thomas & Elizabeth Dwyer OR b. 1808, Baptised 17 May 1808; Parents James & Catherine Dwyer. I also have possible dates for Ann Dwyer as 1797-1877 Reg. Dist Limerick. as per Ireland, Civil Registration Deaths Index, 1864-1958.)

Children Mary, Catherine/Kate, Ann (1844/45) and possibly John all emigrated to NZ. Mary Cecelia Welch and Ann Welch arrived in Auckland  on the Avalanche 7 May 1860. The rest of the story as we know it isn't relevant at this point. 

I would be so gratefull ofr any help I can get as this is a family mystery that has flummoxed us for years.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not locate the marriage record or any baptismal records for children of Cornelius and Ann. Cornelius is not listed in the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household survey for Co. Limerick which indicates he was not leasing land.

Actual civil death records are available from 1878-1969. From 1864-1877, we only have index records for now but over time the images will be added to www.irishgenalogy.ie The index record for Ann on Roots Ireland indicates she was a labourer's wife, the informant was Cornelius Walsh and they lived in a place called Gurrane which I believe is Garrane in Monasteranenagh civil parish.

Likely the family was living in an area where the RC parish records do not go back to the 1840s. There are at least eight parishes in this category. One possibility is Banogue RC parish which is just to the northwest of Croom parish.
