Thank you for this. My mother had ten even though she was one of four.  Is there any way of finding out if they all left Ireland or any other information on the family?

Hi Brigud

If you ASSUME they stayed in Tipperary you could try the Irish Censuses of 1901 & 1911 (free at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/) for each of the boys' names at least.

I tried searching for James in DED Clonmel & got some matches including one aged 40.

If you then click on hios name you get his family & address.

Passenger Arrival Lists for Ellis Island only start in 1892 (free at https://familysearch.org/) so ancestry would be better if you can get access to search the Immigration records.

There are 280 Walsh burial records from Clonmel on www.rootsireland.ie/ from 1864 to 1921.

I thank you for the information that has been found about the Walsh Family and now, several years later, I was hoping that there might be some updates. I have found my grandmother's husband (my grandfather) family in Scotland and met with them.

I researched that my grandmother's twin married William Burns (1875-1918) and I want to know if this can be verified; see below:

Name William Burns
Marriage Date 15 Feb 1903
Marriage Place Golden and Kilfeacle, Tipperary, Ireland
Spouse Alice Walsh

William Burns

in the Ireland, Select Catholic Marriage Registers, 1778-1942

Name William Burns
Birth Place Tipperary
Residence Tipperary
Death Date 21 Aug 1918
Death Place France and Flanders
Enlistment Place Clonmel, Munster
Rank Corporal
  The King's (Liverpool) Regiment
Battalion 13th Battalion
Regimental Number 95105
Type of Casualty Killed in action
Theatre of War Western European Theatre
Comments Formerly 16545, Royal Irish Fusiliers, M.M.

Again, thank you for your work. As I am finally retired, I am planning a trip to Ireland primarily to visit the area my grandmother is from in Clonmel and also, I have a Bonfield connection in County Clare.  I would like to connect to someone from the area that might be able to assist me. I am 72 and will be traveling alone most likely. I plan to spend a few months. Also, I am hoping that this year, there will be celebrations for your new St. Brigid national holiday!

Thanks,

Brigid of NYC

Is there a way I can donate to your site from the USA? I am sure many of us here would support the site.
