Ultachs of Crutt (OBrennans land in North Kilkenny)

Hello.  Does anyone have any information on the Ultachs of Crutt who settled around there in north Co. Kilkenny, on the O'Brennan's land.  The only family lore we have is that "we were Ultachs", ie people from Ulster (usually referring to soldiers who came south for battles like Kinsale, for example, but decided to stay). I can trace my GGG grandfather, Patrick Reid, being the first to settle in Ballyedmond, on the Carlow/Wicklow border, before his grandson, Michael, came to Dublin, around 1880, where I grew up.  If anyone has information on any Reids in this area of N.Kilkenny, N.Carlow, or S.Laois, I'd be interested to know.  Thank you, Francis Reid, Vancouver.
