Traveling to Lixnaw, County Kerry

Hello,

I will be visiting Lixnaw, County Kerry in August and would like to meet up with my O'Connell relatives and possibly tour my ancestral home. I have already been in contact with two cousins in the area, brothers George and Dominic O'Connell. I will be meeting with them and possibly other family members, but I would certainly be interested in meeting with any other O'Connell relatives not yet discoverd, or any historians or members of that local community who are familiar with my family. Hi Donald: 

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.  It is great to hear that you have made contact with a few cousins in the local area!  There is a genealogist who operates out of the Listowel Tourist Office who may have further information about possible ancestors.  There is also a local history group in Kerry who publish a very good journal.  Their website is:  http://www.kerryhistory.ie/

Hello Donald or Jane, 

 

I too am traveling to Ireland next month and will be visiting County Kerry.  Wondering if you made other connections?  I am doing research on my great grandparents John O'Connell and Bridget Shanahan.
