Thornton / Flynn Roots

I am a Flynn. My Great Grandfather Patrick Flynn married May Thornton around 1856 and at the time they lived in Coolready. Was wondering if there are still Thorntons or Flynns around the area. I hear its a village and more of a farming community so not sure but would be interested to know. Any leads or info would be greatly appreciated. Patrick had 8 other siblings, of which 7 as we know it, remained in Ireland. Himself, his brother Martin and one of the girls ended up in the Cape Province in South Africa, so I'd assume the offspring of the rest of them are still possibly in Ireland.

Patrick,

Are you referring to the Coolready town land in Limerick or Clare?

Regards,

Carolyn

Patrick,

Patrick I assume you are inquiring in relation to Martin Flynn and Family in the townland of Raheen, Scariff, Co. Clare.

Information in relation to this family was provided in 2023, including a copy of the dearth records of Mary and Martin.

Martin died in the hospital attached to Scariff Workhouse in 1916. See record number 447 Attached to previous Post.

The 1911 Irish census records a family of 12 being born and 9 alive at the time of the census.

This Site does not provide details of living relatives.

Regards,

See you previous Post.

I had no luck finding thr Raheen graveyard where they could be buried. We looked at the Assumotion church and another church further up the road and found a small Raheen graveyard not too far away but no Flynns buried there. If anyone has a more specific location and can share a pin would really appreciate. I can then get a friend to go back and check and photograph them for me. Thank you

Patrick
