Thomas Donnelly 1787

TipperaryLorrha And Dorrha (Tipperary)

My name is Thomas Donnelly. I am trying to learn more about my GGGrandfather Thomas Donnelly born 1787, wife Bridget Somerville born 1801. Records show that Bridget was born and married in Ballymacegan, Lorrha, Tipperary. Bridget had a brother Anthony Somerville, born 1798. Anthony immigrated to Canada in the 1820's. Thomas and Bridget had several children born in Ireland before they immigrated to a small place called Calumet Island, (Grand Calumet) Pontiiac, Quebec,Canada, between 1835-1840.

They had following children who were born in Ireland.

Son Patrick Born 16 Mar 1824,

Son John 1831,

Son William 1831,

Son Charles 1833,

I plan to visit Ireland in the next couple of years and will go to Lorrha try and learn more about my ancestrers. Would appreciateand any information about them.

Hi Thomas
My name is David Broderick Im from Lorrha and will help you as much as possible.
The Sommerville family were still in Ballymacegan in my fathers time so the old homestead should still be there.

Hi David,

I saw your message today and I am not sure If I already replied to it or not.. I had a stroke recently and my memmory is not 100%.

Thank you for responding.. you are the first person in ireland that I have had contact with who has some knowledge of my ancestry.

I would appreciate any suggestions that you may have which could direct me where I might search in Ireland for more information on the Donnelly or Somerville families.. I believe there are a number of churches in Lorrha... Could you guess where the most likely church is where the Somerville family attended.

My e-mail is tadbank@yahoo.ca.

Many thanks,

Best Regards,

Thomas
