Sullivan/Harringtons

Hello! I'm traveling to Ireland in September and trying to trace my family history but wow there are a lot of Sullivans and Harringtons, and I think they're from County Cork.

Here's what I have so far... also the years could be wrong, I'm just using what I could find online

John Sullivan (Nashua, Iowa), son of John Gilcrest Sullivan (Independence, Iowa) and Frances Engelhart

John Gilcrest Sullivan (born 1897 ish), son of John (E?) Sullivan (I think Massachusetts) and Julia M O'Neill

Here's where I start to get confused

John (E?) Sullivan (born 1862 ish) son of Daniel Sullivan (born 1820 ish) and Mary Harrington Sullivan (born 1825 ish)

Daniel Sullivan, born in Ireland and immigrated in 1847, son of Dennis Sullivan (or O'Sullivan) and Mary Harrington

Mary Harrington, son of Timothy Sullivan and Honora/Hanora Harrington

There are so many Mary Harringtons married to Daniel Sullivans, I don't know which one are my ancestors. If possible, I'd love to find out where in Ireland Daniel and Mary were born so I could visit and to confirm names and birthplaces. I've attached a visual of the family tree if that helps. Thank you!

Hi,

I am looking Daniel up on Ancestry. Is this the correct Daniel. A 1915 obituary for this Daniel states he was from Glengariff, Cork County , Ireland and still had a sister living there. Mary's obit notes they married in Ireland.

Mary Sullivan obituary stated they were in Boston before moving to Iowa. Ancestry suggest this family. Daniel might have brought other family over?? Dennis was born in Ireland.

Oh my goodness, Mary! Thank you so much. That is the correct Daniel and Mary. I was born in Waverly, Iowa and that is too small of a town for it to not be my family. Thank you so much for looking into it! If you ever find any other information, I would greatly appreciate it but I'm so happy to know that Daniel was born in Glengariff because everything I found only said Ireland. Where did you find Mary and Daniel's obit?

ksullivan

I found the obits on Ancestry. I pay extra for a newspaper subscription. There might have been two Glengariifs in Cork. You might want to check out Irishgenealogy (free) Church. Records could be in Kerry or Cork. Irish Genealogy - Explore your Family History

Daniel's obit was published in Falls River, Mass, Falls River Daily Evening News, February 9, 1915. You might already know- in 1848, while working railroad construction, Daniel was rundown by a gravel train. Both of his legs were amputated at the knee. That is when they moved to Sandwich, Mass.

Mary's obit was published in Waterloo, Iowa. The Courier, December 13, 1920.
