Sleator or Sleater in Sligo

Thank you for your quick reply! I do believe he was COI. I have seen that record and believe it could be a possibility. I suppose maybe I need to see if I can trace that Robert forward and see what I find.

Hi Meredith, I believe my family or I received a letter from you years ago when you were a child, I am David Sleater from Sligo. I'm afraid I don't have any info for you except my Grandfather was Fredrick Sleater and also a boot and shoe maker. He married Mary Jane Dolan and they had eleven children, second oldest of which was my father Arthur, I found this page because I googled Albert Sleater who was my eldest uncle, I couldn't believe when your name came up, if it is you..?

Hi David, Yes! It is me! I'm surprised you remember it! I somehow came up with the idea that I was going to mail a letter to every Sleator or Sleater I could find and see if I could connect with long lost relatives... and then I went off to summer camp and that was the end of that! Needless to say, I never found anything and I suspect that I also probably didn't write back to a good portion of the letters that I received. (If that was you or your family, I apologize for not writing back!)

I've been trying to research the various Sleators/Sleaters in and from Sligo to see if I can piece it together. I have lots of suspicions, but no concrete evidence as to where my ancestor fits in. I do, however, think that I have some records that relate to your ancestors. If you are interested, I'd glad pass them along! Hi My name is Caroline Sleater daughter of Richard Sleater and grand daughter of Fredrick Sleater and Mary Dolan Sleater from Sligo, i believe that David you are my dads brother.s son. His brother was Arthur. I have an interest in connecting with my dads family I knew very little about them other than my Uncle Robert as my dad and himself remained close together over the years. I am close with Malvina Roberts daughter.I joined this board to try and see if any people are still in Sligo and what relations I have. I did also speak before with Winston my dads brother,

I Caroline Sleater Sleator daughter of Richard Sleater has been put in contact with the daughters of Albert James Sleater and we have contact with Roberts daughter also.

We are David cousins in the above message as his dad Arthur was all our  dad;s brother if anyone on the board has any way of contacting him. we are also trying to contact Winston Sleater and his family still living in Sligo along with Davids family.
