Seymour/Hynes

Good Moring...actually it's snowing lioke crazy out side but that makes it a good day for and ancestor search :)

My name is Bob McGoldrick. I'm looking for any and all information concerning my great grandmother who goes by Margaret Jane Hines in our family folklore but who was baptized Joanna Hynes on December 10th, 1843. Her father was Thomas Hynes and her mother was Margaret Seymour Hynes. Margaret, Margaret Jane, Anna Hynes (baptized in Rahoon on 3/June/a838) Cooke, David Cooke and their infant son came to the U.S. in 1864. They lived in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. Margaret Jane married John Heavey in Jersey City in 1868.

If any of this even vaguely sounds familiar it would be great to hear from you.

Fingers crossed,

Bob

Hello Bob, I am looking at older queries and have reached yours, I see the birth you mention, address is New Road, Rahoon, doubt it is still new mind. Here is a link to the parish records so you can read the entry but only search by event and year and month and then you read, not always easy.

I could not find the marriage so probably in the brides parish which does not have records for that period, you can see surname distribution free on this subscription site and around the time of the Tithes would be the timeframe, there are 21 Seymours in Galway in the Griffiths Valuation period

https://www.johngrenham.com/surnames/ the tithe applottments are here https://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp&nb…;

You had to hold at least an acre of land to pay the church tax.

If you are looking for living relatives you could post your information on the parish page of this site, also there are a number of Galway private Facebook pages dealing with genealogy if you care to join you may even find a local one for the area rather than the county.

Good Luck

Pat
