Seeking Confirmation on Parents of Anthony Barrett

Do you have any additional information about Luke? Did he stay in Mayo. If he left-where and when? Did he get married-where and when (spouses name)? Did he have siblings? Did he have children? Where and when did he die? Sometimes you can find parent names on marriage, death, and ship records.

He did stay in Mayo, yes. As far as I am aware. That is where he was married and I presume born. He married Mary Gallagher in 1872, according to the record I found, in Cooneal. The parish was Ballysakeery. I am not aware of his siblings as of yet. Some other marriage records for people with the same names as them have variation in Anthony's name. The one I have his name was written down as Anthony Michael Barrett, but others have different names, often women's names like Bridget or Margaret. This has confused me. They were church records I believe but I haven't been able to find a civil record so far. But the date is the same which made me think it might be all them? He had a few daughters and sons. One called John, my great-great grandfather, I think a son called Patrick as well. I don't know when Anthony died exactly or was born but I think was Mayo.

I looked at the parish marriage records for the RC parish of Cooneal (Ballysokeery) for 1872, but did not find a marriage between Anthony and Mary Gallagher. However, at the very top of the page when you select marriage/1872 on the NLI site for that parish, the very first entry that shows is for an Anthony Barrett and Mary Clarke on 20 Aug 1871. Are you certain of the Gallagher surname for Mary? I have attached the marriage record.

Luke the trees I have found Anthony with parents Patrick Barrett and Catherine McLaughlin has Anthony's wife as Mary Murphy or Bridget.

The other tree with Owen and Anne, identifies his wife as Mary Gallagher. Per RootsIreland, they were married in 1839 in Backs/ Knockmore. Mayo. Owen lived in Rathane. In addition to Anthony, they had John 1842 and Thomas 1843.
