Searching for the Lyne family of Ballymore
Hi:
My wife and I live in the US and are trying to learn about her ancestors who emigrated from Dingle around 1860. This was a bit of a challenge at first since their surname is spelled Lyons here in the States but was Lyne in Ireland.
We were finally able to locate them through her GG-Grandparents: Timothy Lyne and Bridget ONeil (spelled Neal over there). Please see the attached document which has birth information for four children: Thomas, Owen, Timothy, and John. According to these listings the family came from the townland of Ballymore.
Weve been unable to locate any other records for the parents, Timothy and Bridget, which seems odd since church records exist for at least two decades before 1841 when Thomas was born. Is there somewhere else we can look to find the marriage record or anything else pertaining to them?
Also, my wife has a DNA match on Ancestry who claims to descend from a fifth child - Michael - but weve been unable to locate him. Is there some other place that might have his information?
We know that was a difficult time in Irish history and maybe other records dont exist but thought we would try. Any guidance is much appreciated. Thanks for your help.
Kevin
