Lawrence,

There are 47 trees on Ancestry with Arthur. He travelled with his sister Mary, age 18, to Australia in 1860. most of the trees suggest that Thomas and Ann were born, married, and died in Limerick where they had additional children including Mary. You noted that they were farmers so I am not sure what brought them to Kells?? There is no supporting documentation so the trees might be incorrect.

The tithe applotment records list most farmers in Ireland. Kells in Northern Ireland is in the parish of Connor, Co Antrim. The tithe records for that parish in 1835 do not list any Thomas O’Neill farming there then:

O’Neill is a common surname in Co. Antrim but Coughlan is not. None in Connor parish at all and none in Co Antrim in Griffiths Valuation c 1860. I suspect the couple did not live in Co Antrim.

Thank You MaryTV I agree there is no supporting records for Limerick. I was aware of the many trees.

Arthur's death cert reads he was from County Cavan but may have been working there before leaving Ireland.

Mary's marriage in 1862 in Melbourne Australia cert says she is from Kells. But no county mentioned.

Thank You Elwyn. Mary's marriage cert reads she is from Kells. No further information recorded.

Lawrence,

There are 6 places named Kells in Ireland. In Counties Antrim, Meath, Kilkenny, Limerick, Clare & Kerry. I think you can rule out Antrim. I’d search for records in the others.

Elwyn,

Where is Kell in Limerick? The trees on Ancestry suggest the rest of the family is from Nantinan, Cappagh, Limerick. Mary is not identified from there.

Lawrence is this your Mary?

Elwyn,

Thank you. What a great database.

Lawrence,

Dromcolliher to Cappagh is about 19 miles.

Although the trees suggest Limerick, I don't think it makes sense.
