Searching for burial site of relatives. Bernard and Lena Catney.

Bernard & Lena Catney owned a pub & a farm in 1911-1914 in Meghaberry, Maheramesk, County Antrim.  Bernard died in 1914 and I am looking for his final resting place.  Helena "Lena" died in 1923. I would assume they would be together.  I believe they were Catholic.  Bernard's death register states he died in in Meghaberry. I have looked on Find-a-Grave and Billion Graves, no luck.  Any suggestions of where to look?

Thank you kindly for any ideas or help you can offer,

Anne

ps. I have visited Ireland and Northern Ireland many times and it's the greatest place.

Anne,

Here’s Bernard in Maghaberry in the 1911 census, which confirms he and Helena were Catholic.

Bernard died intestate (so no will):

Administration of the Estate of Bernard Catney late of Megaberry County Antrim Publican who died 17 January 1914 granted at Belfast to Helena Bridget Catney the Widow

Lena put the pub up for sale soon after Bernard’s death. There’s an advert for it in the Lisburn Standard of 14th Feb 1914.

Belfast Newsletter of 12th June 1914 reports a court case involving John Catney suing Lena for £70 which he said he had lent Bernard. Judge dismissed the case because the witnesses evidence was confusing and contradictory.

Lena died 10th Feb 1923 aged 30. Her death is registered in Armagh (not Lisburn). The death certificate should tell you where she was living then. It’s available on the GRONI website for £2.50.

I don’t see a probate file for Lena.

There’s a graveyard in Trummery townland (Magheramesk civil parish) which was used by all denominations. Bernard might be buried there. I couldn’t see any death notices reporting his or Lena’s burials in the newspapers. They married in Maghaberry chapel. You could contact the parochial office to see if there’s a graveyard attached.
