The website Lexico.com gives these definitions for Scripture Reader:

In early use: specifically a person employed by a church or missionary organization to visit the homes of poor people in order to read the Bible and evangelize (now historical).

Terry,

What years are you researching? It is likely that your ancestors were non Roman Catholic and it may be difficult to get baptism records due to the destruction of records in 1922.

State records are from January 1st 1864, other than Church of Ireland marriages from 1845.

Tithe Applotmenr Records are from 1823 t0 1837.

Regards,

Thank you for response, Edward Bradley dob 1844 , Catherine Bradley dob 1865 Christina dob 1869... Catherine was definitely C.o.I I think Frances and Mary Anne dob would be before 1864 ..
On Catherine's birth cert her mother is listed as a Margaret Angram /Ingram ... the Roots lead to County Cork.. which is great, but I don't seem to get much detail about the Bradley family belongings

Terry,

Attached, which may assist you in getting further information on your ancestors.

I have checked www.askaboutireland.ie - Griffith's Land Valuation, but did not find any record for a Patrick Bradley in Whitechurch.

You may consider contacting the Church of Ireland Library in Churchtown, Dublin. You will need to get someone to do the search.

In regard to the Scripture Reader, I attach details of the Chuch Mission to Ireland. Many Roman Catholics joined, with some or all of their familiy.

The Surname "Bradly/Bradley" is common in County Cork, but not the Surname "Angram".

If I find anything relevant to you I will post it.

Best Wishes,

Thank you . Kind regards

Terry,

No record of the surname "Angram" has shown up in the County of Cork, or the remainder of the Ireland. There is a small townland (99 acres) in West Cork named Angram. It is in the parish of Dromdaleague in the Union of Skibbereen. The Tithe records a man named Sullivan as the sole occupant. The name "Angram" appears to have its origin in Yorkshire in England.

In relation to Buckly/Buckley, Griffith's House Valuation has a record in 1850 of the townland of Kilmona in the Civil parish of Grenagh where there is a Pat and an Edward recorded. The Cork/Dublin rail track and the Mallow road go through the townland and the village of Whitechurch is a short distance to the East of it. This is just a possibility. No record found for a Bradly?Bradley in the townland of Church Hill.
