Scott and Bannan of Co. Fermanagh

I descend from Jane Ann Scott, who emigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1841. She was baptised at Clones, Co. Fermanagh on 10 July 1819, daughter of George Scott and Mary Bannan. The baptisms register indicates that the family was from the townland of Clonfad. Family tradition in Australia has it that Jane was born in Enniskillen, but that remains undocumented. Can anyone suggest possible sources for this family, since I cannot find the parents' marriage? (Jane married Archibald Graham in Melbourne in 1843; her 1916 death certificate includes wrong details of her parents, the information being supplied by a grandson-in-law).

Many thanks.

John

John,

It looks like your Jane was baptized in Co. Monaghan, as follows:

Name: Jane Anne Scott

Baptism: 10-Jul-1819

Address: Clonfad

Parish/District: CLONES

County Co. Monaghan

Denomination: Church Of Ireland

Father: George Scott

Mother: Mary Bannan

Notes:

Thanks, but I had already given you those details, if you like to read my post again.. I was asking if there were any other sources for this family.

Clonfad is in Co Fermanagh. It’s in the parish of Clones which is partially in Co Monaghan and partially in Co. Fermanagh. Clonfad is right on the boundary, but in Fermanagh. 231 acres mostly agricultural land. In Griffiths Valuation c 1860 there were about 11 homes there (no Scotts or Bannons). In the 1901 census there were 9 houses and a population of 41 people:

In the early 1800s most people gave birth at home, so if the family lived in Clonfad, I’d expect Jane to have been born there. But if she was born in Enniskillen (about 20 miles from Clonfad), there aren’t any records to search as births weren’t registered in Ireland at that time, just baptisms and you already have that.

There were 23 properties with land in Clonfad in the 1832 tithe applotment records. Again no Scotts or Bannons.

I can’t think of any other records to search that might record the family.

John, I didn't realize you had all the baptism details...I thought the info about Monaghan was new.

I included the baptism details in my question. However, I am better informed now, and realise that there are no further sources available.

In the Tithe Applotment Books, there was a head of household in 1829 in Co. Monaghan named George Scott. I did not locate any Scotts in Fermanagh.
