Ryce, Goldrick, Cosgrove and Madden families

Hi, John Rice (Ryce), married Bridget Cosgrove. Both were from County Cavan, and lived in Glasgow in 1871. Their parents were Johnston Rice, farmer, and Betsy Goldrick, and, Michael Cosgrove and Mary Madden respectively. Several of their descendants emigrated to Canada, and their son James Robert Ryce married Margaret Smith in 1910 near Edinburgh. Any help of any sort would be very welcome. Many thanks.

Hi John  . . . Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out . . .

Looking at your search . . there is a marked absence of dates and timelines to assist us . . .which leaves us guessing . . . .  . . . . .  however . .

As " Johnson " is an unusual irish christian name  . . I started my search there . .

" Ancestry.Com " . . throws up the following . . .

When I look for the name Goldrick    ..in Cavan . . . a National Census of 1841 shows (see)

Hi again. i have checked through all of the above, for which I am very grateful, but sadly I am still no further forward. Recently I have checked the 1921 Scottish Census, and my Great grandmother, Bridget Rice (Ryce) who was residing in East Calder was shown as coming from a place called Winghorn, County Mayo, despite earlier records implying that she was from Cavan. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate a place called Winghorn anywhere in Ireland, not just Mayo. However, whilst the name Robert Veitch, as mentioned above, means nothing to me, I note that there is a Helen Veitch living a few doors away in 1921. Possibly just a coincidence. To date, I have not been able to establish a link. Thanks for your time.

I have also taken an Autosomal DNA test with Ancestry.com and note that it is suggested that an Irish DNA map can be posted here, but I am not at all sure how to do so. Thanks
