Russell/Walsh Family

Ardfinnan (Tipperary)

Hi, I am researching my ggg Grandparents John Russell and Johanna/Judith Walsh, they married on 12 April 1837 in the Ardfinnan Parish, demonation - Roman Catholic. Witness - John Walsh and Margaret Moore.

I have so far baptism dates for 4 of their children in Ardfinnan Parish but I may have missed some, the rest are from St Peter & Paul, Clonmel but I could be wrong with this!

1. Johanna bap 14 Jan 1838 - Ardfinnan - Sponsers Michael Sulivane and Mary Walsh

2. Patrick bap 8 Sept 1839 - Ardfinnan - Sponsers William Russell and Joanna Russell

3. John bap 25 March 1842 - Ardfinnan -Sponsers John Walsh and Ellen Burke

4. Marian bap 25 March 1842 - Ardfinnan - Sponsers John Walsh and Elana Burke

5. ? Andrew birth 1849 - Tipperary

6. Michael  bap 12 June 1853 - St Peter & Paul, Clonmel

7. William  bap 14 April 1856 - St Peter & Paul, Clonmel

8. Catherine 'Kate'  bap 5 June 1859 - St Peter & Paul, Clonmel

Also looking to find  a birth/baptism for John Russell about 1807 and Johanna Walsh 1815 and in which Parish this happened.

John and Johanna'Judith'  Russell arrived in Launceston Tasmania Australia from Melbourne 20 Aug 1860 on 'BlackSwan' with children Andrew 11, Michael 6, William 3 and Catherine 9 months Their voyage was paid for them by George Johnston -who  was married to their daughter Johanna !

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and the closest John Russell baptism to 1807 was a June 5 1810 record in Clogheen RC parish father William Russell and mother Catherine Gorman. For Johanna/Judith Walsh, there are too many possibilities: 1811 (4) 1814 1816 (2). Not sure which record might be correct. Also Johanna/Judith may have been born later than 1815 if she had a child in 1860.

Thank you for your help re Johanna/Judith/Julia Walsh - her age was 36 when they arrived in Tasmania and on her death certificate in 1890 it says aged 67 years. So she would of been born around 1823/24.

John Russell was aged 40 when he arrived in Tasmania so that perhaps his birth date could be 1818/19/20.

So I will try these dates and see what I can find.
