Ruddy - Mayo

Hi,

I am looking for advice on where to start.... all i know of this side of my family is that my GGG grandfather was John Ruddy born around 1820 in Ireland. his father is recorded at John a farmer on his marriage certificate. I have traced him on the census for 1841 in Liverpool but he moved to Yorkshire. He married Mary Mcmanara who father was Patrick, again she is recorded as been born in county Mayo. I can not find him or Mary on any ships passenger lists and due to not knowing which town in Mayo i just dont know where to go next. Any help or advice will be greatfully received. You won’t find any passenger lists for journeys from Ireland to England. That was just a short domestic trip and passenger lists were never kept for that sort of travel.

Hello From Chicago,

My gg grandmother was Mary nee Ruddy Kearney.  She was born July 28,1831.  Her parents were Owen Ruddy and Mary nee McDonnell.  She had brothers James and John (Jack) and a sister Mary.  She was born in Prospect which is about 3 miles outside Westport on the road to Louisberg.  Have you done your DNA?  If you send me your e-mail, I will send what info I have.
