Robert Strutt family Aghaloo
I am trying to identify the parents of Robert Strutt (1823-1911), born in Northern Ireland, died in Clarendon, Quebec, Canada. In the 1901 Canadian census, he gave his date of birth as 3 April 1823. I believe that he may have been the son of Robert Strutt of Ramaket, Armagh, County Tyrone.
I have seen this transcript online:
Griffith's Valuation: Aghaloo Parish, County Tyrone, 1851
Strutt, James L: Ramaket
Strutt, Lang L: Ramaket
Strutt, Robert T: Caledon
I also found references to the name Robert Strutt in other online records from Ireland from 1796 (voters list), 1829 (freeholders register), 1825 and 1837 (Tithe Applotment Books)and 1838 (index to wills).
I found this online regarding Langford:
Name: Langford Street
Event Type: Marriage
Event Date: 30 Oct 1845
Event Place: Eglish, County Armagh, Ireland
Father's Name: Robt Street
Spouse's Name: Martha Steenson
Name: Langford Strutt
Event Type: Death
Event Place: Armagh, Ireland
Registration Quarter and Year: Jan - Mar 1878
Registration District: Armagh
Age: 78
Birth Year (Estimated): 1800
Volume Number: 1
My Robert had six sons, including Robert, James and Langford, so I believe that he was likely the son of one of the three men listed above. Robert had a brother John born in July 1829. By 1852, Robert and John were living together in Quebec, both blacksmiths, Episcopalian (later Church of England, then Methodist). I believe they immigrated around 1850. They both married here in Canada.
I am hoping there might be information available locally in the Aghaloo area that is not online that might help me prove the parentage of my Robert Strutt.
Thanks, Mary (in Canada)
