Richard Dalton and Mary Dwyer.

Hello Jane and others,

I am looking forward to my up coming visit to Tipperary in about 5 weeks time. I am hoping to findthe church where my Dalton /Dwyer relatives were married and my great , great , grandfather was baptised.

I have not paid for access to a Newspaper record as suggested in my past post reply form you and so i still do not have any clue what happened to Richard Dalton not long after his marriage and birth of his son Patrick in 1854.Mary Dwyer reverts to her maiden name and comes out to Australia, leaving her little boy Patrick behind, ( He came out later) . I think Richard Dalton is born in 1830 to Michael and Mary Dalton.

I would like to see the GRIFFITH Valuations blocks of landidentified as that of Richard Dalton or Dwyers.

Any clues on the Buckley's Cross/Knockavilla /Donaskeigh Catholic Church as this where the marriage and baptism took place I think?

When Mary Dwyerre marries in Australia in 1858 she lists herself as spinster which I believe is untrue. Still wondering what happened to Richard Dalton. If Richard was a policeman as family rumour has it...an RIC ''event " is listed for 1860. I may get to National Archives in London next month to see what the "event " was .

Thank you for reading...all guidance welcome. Di Fitzgerald

Hello Diana, looking at old queries and I cannot locate the records you post on Roots Ireland, I looked at the Tithe Applottment Books and there are plenty of Daltons in Tipperary so probably not in the police as they were never posted to their own county, there is a private Facebook page on the Royal Irish Constabulary - A Forgotten Irish Police Force and they are very good at locating names and where they were from etc, apply to join.

Hope your trip was successful, this site has recently had a volunteer in Tipperary if you want to repost this query.

Regards

Pat
