Robert:

I looked on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie for marriages in the Clifden RC records. I found an 1859 Patrick Coyne marriage where his spouse name was Bridget and a 1854 Patrick Coyne marriage where the spouse sname was Sarah. I'm wondering if the 1859 marriage is the correct marriage and her name was Bridget Mary or Mary Bridget. Roots is a pay site to see the transcription of a church record.

I located an 1874 civil birth index record for Philip which matches the age 27 in the 1901 census. I also found an 1897 civil marriage index record for a Philip Coyne in the Clifden registration district. The marriage was registered in the Oct.-Dec. quarter of 1897 Volume 4 page 53. I also found an 1955 death index record for a Philip Coyne where the informant indicated he was born in 1874.

www.irishgenealogy.ie  now has the civil index records online for free. You can get copies of any of the civil records for around 4 euros each. Let me know if you want to get copies and I can forward instructions.

Thank you Roger, I'll have a look at www.irishgenealogy.ie  as that seems my best bet for info confirmation. At least if I can get a mother maiden name I might be able to move forward with my search some.

Robert:

The 1897 index record on www.irishgenealogy.ie does not show Bridget's maiden name. I just checked Roots and they have the 1897 church marriage record in the Ballynakill RC records which should show Bridget's maiden name. The cost is either 5 euros or 5 dollars.

My mistake. Thanks again for your help. Not sure why it is so hard to find this part of my family. With that many children you would think there would be some kind of link somewhere to hook up with. :)
