Possible burial grounds
wondering if anyone knows of burial grounds in parish of Ballynakill in western galway (Ballynahinch).
My 2nd great grandparents Tadgh Coyne and Catherine Lydon married and left Ireland in 1862 for America.
I'm wondering where Tadgh 's parents may be buried.. they rented cottage and land between the two townlands of Ross and Tievegariff on southern shore of Ballynakill harbour.
So my 3rd great grandparents were John Coyne and Ellen "Nellie" Walsh/ Welch.
I believe Tadgh was likely the last to leave Ireland a he had two brothers, Patrick (married to Mary Coyne), and Rodger (married to Ann Gannon) and a sister Sarah (married to Philip Gannon) who came over before "Tady" arrived in 1862. They all settled in village of Marcellus in Upstate NY. I would imagine there were more siblings who possibly went elsewhere but I haven't found them although I do have dna matches to coynes in Minnesota and Pittsburgh area.
I know Catherine Lydon's sister Jane, married Thomas Thornton in Sept 5, 1869 in the chapel in Tullycross so that would be their catholic parish. Jane and Thomas then left Ireland right after with the lydon parents Patrick lydon and Bridget coyne and came to Marcellus.
I also know there were two lydon brothers who stayed in Ireland: Michael who was witness to Jane's marriage and John who married honor Corbett and had 10 daughters and lived in townland of Ungwee where the lydon family likely all lived. John died in 1936 and honor in 1932 and their daughter Catherine who martyred James Joyce and died in Ungwee in 1968. James died in 1962.
When I visited the parish 2 years ago I found a small cemetery outside Tullycross but couldn't find anything. Wondered if there were anything near Ross and Tievegarriff where the family might be buried.
I know from Griffiths that John Coyne lived near Thomas Gannon (father of Philip and Ann) in both townlands.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!
