PK Keenan

ArmaghKeady (Armagh)

Hey folks. A friend found an old clay pipe bowl in Dublin stamped with "PK Keenan" and *Keady*. It's reckoned the pipe dates from the mid to late 19th C but I don't believe Keenan was the maker's name. I suspect it may be the name of a business or shop that sold the pipe. Does anyone know of a business called PK/Patrick/Paddy Keenan from Keady in the 1800s? Thank you!

Hey Elwyn, many thanks for that - that looks like a very real possibility! I don't see any reference to Crossmaglen in that link but he is listed there for Keady alright. It seems very likely it's the same business. That's very exciting and narrows the date right down

I have a Patrick Keenan in my family tree his daughter Ellen married michael woods and lived at Cornonagh it says on the marriage certificate that he was a Cooper by trade so could have made the pipe for his own use,Ellen was down as living at courtbane or courtbawn I can't read the writing, hope this helps.
