Peter Meade and Meade family from Miltown Malbay..looking for info

I know many details about my paternal great-grandparents, Peter and Ellen (Murtagh) Meade, but am especially interested in Peter Meade's involvement with the "No Rent Manifesto". Peter Meade died on July 31, 1926 and his obituary mentions that he was "...a keen follower of Parnell" and that he was a leading advocate of the "No Rent Manifesto". However, I have not succeeded in finding any further information about Peter Meade's involvement with the "No Rent Manifesto" and will be glad for any information.

Additionally, my paternal grandmother (Bridget Meade, daughter of Peter and Ellen Meade) married John Quealy in Boston, Massachusetts (USA). John Quealy was also from the area of Miltown Malbay and had emigrated to the US in 1910. Any info about the Quealy family is also much appreciated.

What year was John Quealy born and do you happen to know the names of his parents?

Hi, Roger.....thank you for you reply. John Quealy was born on July 1, 1891, Inagh, County Clare and died on March 7, 1957 near Boston in the US. John Quealy's parents were Michael Quealy and Bridget (Reidy) Quealy.

I searched from 1880-1892 on the civil birth records found at the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie I searched for all Quealy birth records in the Ennis and Ennistymon registration districts and did not find the birth record for John and also no records for siblings using the parents names of Michael Quealy and Bridget Reidy. Not sure if the spelling of the surname that was registered was significantly different from Quealy which might be one explanation.

Are you aware of any siblings to John?

In addition to Roger's Posts, I attach a record from the 1901 Irish Census for Reidy in Inagh parish. It may lead to the identity of John Quealy, as I have not come across any John Quealy who would tie in with his birth in 1891 and a father named Michael.

Regarding Peter Meade, I have not found anything in relation to support for Charles Stewart Parnell who died in England in October 1891.

Mr Parnell was arrested for supporting the Land League and as a result, following his arrest there wass a boycott of paying land rents. He was released from prison in May 1882. Miltown Malbay and other parishes had their own organisations, so apparently Peter Meade was a strong supporter of the Land League.

When John arrived at Boston in June 1910, he listed his father as his contact at Newhall, Tiernaclane, Inagh

The only Quealy 1911 census record in Newhall was a John Quealey family and his brother Michael age 70 was living with him. Michael was a widower and the father of John in Massachusetts.  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Clare/Clareabbey/Newha…

Newhall is in Killone civil parish which is southeast of Inagh parish and in the Ennis registration  district.

Here is John and family in the 1901 census. The surname was Qualey.

I also looked for a birth record for a John Qualey and did not see a record around 1891.
