Patrick Taggart
Hey all, I'm looking for info on a Patrick Taggart and wife Nancy Keating I believe may be from Clonoe or thereabouts in Tyrone.
They both were born around1800 and likely marriedaround1818. The following year they had a daughter Margaret, and probably shortly thereafter emigrated to the US - first to Chester County, Pennsylvania and then moving west; arriving in Columbiana County, Ohio by 1831 and living in Dungannon and Summitville. During these years they had at least 5 other children (Mary Ann, William, John, Ellen, and Patrick Jr.) They show up in occasional records (both the 1820 and 30 censuses, Poor House admissions, and bapstisms) as well in this period.
I believe Patrick Sr. passed away around1836 and the records are pretty sparse thatearly. Columbiana County, Ohio though seems to have been settled early on by Scots and Irish immigrants, with other Taggarts from Clonoe being prominently among them, and I believe Patrick may have been related to them. It looks like Keatings could be found nearby in Clonfeacle as well, so at least theoretically this seems to make sense.
Like many other settlers from this area of Ohio, the family eventually moved onwards to Wisconsin but left relatively little history about their origins so beyond also know that they were Catholic, this is most of what I've got to work off of.
Would appreciate any insight you all have about how to proceed, and thanks!
