Trying to positively identify where my great grandfather was born about 1850 in Ireland possibly County Kerry.Father believed to be Maurice Savage mother Mary. I dont have much documentation on his pre Australia life. I have completed a good profile on WikiTree of his life in Australia with some nice Photos. Im living in Sydney. Unsure when Patrick migrated to Sydney. There is a birth record for Patrick in 1852 which could be him. Any help appreciated. Thanks Mark Quealy

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and also the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie The only Patrick Savage baptismal record with father Maurice Savage and mother Mary was the 1852 record you located. I assume you do not have his mother's maiden name and are not aware of any siblings.

Have you considered DNA testing?

Thanks Roger, that’s very helpful. I will post an emigrant story on Ireland XO & I’m considering DNA testing. I’m a bit junior with this genealogy searching but catching on slowly. All so interesting.  Mark Quealy

Hi Roger, I have DNA testing but nothing eventuated as yet. Patrick didn't divulge much at all about his Irish upbringing after migrating here to New South Wales with his brother Maurice. They were both Wheelwrights by trade. He is a real brickwall as we can only confirm his parents as Maurice (too many options) & Mary of Curraheen, County Kerry. Thanks for trying anyhow. Mark Quealy
