Patrick & Milo Slaven/Slavin to Canada in 1830s
In February, 1799, Patrick E. Slaven/Slavin was born in Ireland. He married Eliza Welch/Walsh who was born about 1813. The family moved from County Wexford to Ontario, Canada in the early 1830s. In 1834 or 1835, their eldest son John Wallace Slaven was born in Prince Edward County, Ontario. One of Patrick’s sons completed the construction of the Panama Canal and became one of the richest men in the United States.
Another family, Miles/Milo Slaven/Slavin and his wife Ann moved to Prince Edward County at about the same time. Miles was born about 1792 in Ireland. As Milo and Patrick arrived at about the same time, were about the same age, settled in the same area, and both had sons named Moses Albert and Milo, they were probably brothers or cousins.
I would like to know more about the ancestry of these two men in Ireland. This is a historical research project and I am not related. Queries about the family history in Canada and the United States are welcome.
