Patrick Maguire married to Bridget Donohoe
I am seeking information on Patrick Maguire who married Bridget Donohoe possibly around 1825. Patrick was a farmer from around the Ballyconnell area County Cavan. They had 4 children Bernard (emigrated to Canada), Thomas (emigrated to Australia), Bridget (Emigrated to Australia, then New Zealand) and James (emigrated to India). Patrick was noted as deceased in 1859 on the Hornet shipping records for Thomas and Bridget. The family was Roman Catholic. Associated families are Gaffney and Freehill. Bernard Gaffney paid the deposit for Thomas and Bridget's passage to Australia and he was noted as the cousin of Thomas and Bridget. Mr Patrick Freehill is noted as Bernard Gaffney's uncle in newspaper articles. Patrick Freehill is noted as having a sister Mrs Anne Gaffney, mother of Bernard Gaffney. Bridget's native place on the shipping records is noted as Tomregan, County Cavan. Thomas's native place is noted as Snugborough, County Cavan. The ship's deposit journal states Ballyconnell, County Cavan as where they were living at the time the deposit was paid.
The Griffith Valuation of Tomregan, County Cavan lists a Patrick Maguire at Carrowmore. There are Donohoe's, Gaffney's and Freehill's in the district on the same Griffith Valuation register.
Thomas Maguire, son of Patrick Maguire and Bridget Donohoe, is the Great Great Grandfather of my husband Terence Maguire. As we will be visiting this area of Ireland, we seek any assistance on records which may exist, or from persons with genuine connections to this family. Thanks in advance.
