Patrick Mackey 1831 born in Dublin Ireland and his son Richard Mackey county Meath

I am searching for my GG grandfather, Patrick Mackey. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, 1831.. I want to find my G grandfather Richard Mackey. He may have been born in County Meath Ireland or Kilkenny Ireland. His birth date is not known. Other records I have indicate his birth is between 1820 - 1831. I have records for Richard Mackey and his wife Catherine Reardon starting with their marriage in 1951 Ontario, Canada. I am trying to find exactly when he was born and christened. Also his father, Patrick Mackey.

This does not make sense to me as I have his father born in 1831.

Just checking that this is the situation:

Patrick Mackey, b. 1831 in Dublin

His son, Richard, b. 1820 - 1831 in Meath or Kilkenny.

Married Catherine Reardon 1851 Ontario

It's not possible that the 1831 Patrick is the father of Richard. How do you know Richard's father was called Patrick? Where did you get the 1831 date? Have you seen marriage/death record for Richard? Does it have his parents' names?

If you look at the 1851 census Richard might have had a brother/ cousin named James. James Cunningham might have been a relative??

Following on the above, Richard's marriage record states he was from Kilkenny, not Meath.
