Patrick Clune & Mary Doolaghty married in Tulla 27 Feb 1843 and emigrated to the US

Hello,,

Patrick Clune and Mary Doolaghty (Delahanty) were my GGG Grandparents. There were 2 Patricks born to John Clune/Mary Murphy in 1817, and 1820 (I assume the first one passed away) in Arden/Orden. I am not sure that this is my Patricks parents, since there are so many Patrick Clunes. Their children were as follows:

Joseph 1844

Joseph 1847-1913

Bridget 1849-1919

Michael 1851/53-1919

Patrick 1858/59/60 - 1939

Martin 1860 - 1890 Born in Knockjames

Thomas 1863-1935/36

James 1864-? {I have seen in a Parish (Doora Kilgratis) Baptism that on 22 Jan 1864, that 2 babies were baptized, (James and Thomas) and I think they were twins because there are 4 Sponsors. I am not sure if either one survived.}Anyway, they all emigrated to the US starting with Joseph and Michael in 1865 except their Dad,Patrick, and possibly James didnt come either.

Mary was the daughter of Ted Delahanty according to her death notice in 1896 in Michigan, USA. She was born in 1813/14. Her brother Patrick was born in 1812/13 and married Bridget McNamara and emigrated to Michigan with some of their children. Their Mother is unknown.

I would like more information on which Clune family I am from. Joseph Clune was my GG Grandfather. I know a lot of Clunes are in the Clune Book by Connor Clune, but I cant find one in Texas. Any information you could kindly provide would be most helpful.

Thank You,

Laurie Darbe

Hi Laurie:

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.  I am the Tulla Parish Liaison and I'm also a Clune descendant too!

I see the baptism record for Joseph Clune born to Patrick Clune and Mary Doolaghty in 1844 and the residence was noted as Derranacleha.  This area is very close to where many of the other Clune families resided.  It appears from your post that Patrick & Mary along with Joseph emigrated to the U.S. and settled there where they had other children.  Is this correct?  You can contact me directly at: tulla@irelandxo.com  for further Clune family information

There are now no Clune families with the surname in the area, but there are descendants.

I look forward to hearing.

Kind regards,

Jane

Hi. I have been trying to research my family tree. I was told my great grandparents were James Clune who married Mary Ryan from County Clare and they had 7 children and moved from Ireland to America. The only Clune/Ryan marriage I found so far was for a Mary Ryan who it said married a Patrick Clune so now I’m wondering if perhaps James was a middle name. I was informed after arriving in America James left Mary Ryan Clune for someone else. That’s all the information I have.
