Patrick Byrne

My Great Grandfather, Patrick Byrne, was born in Newtown Barry in 1845. He emigrated to Melbourne Australia in 1874, he married Jane Hughes from Kilkenny. He was Roman Catholic. I have been unable to find any record of his birth or his parents marriage or names. There is also some mention of County Wicklow which confuses me with the search. I am visiting in Ireland in June this year and would love to visit the region he is from and perhaps find his parents information

any help greatly appreciated

Newtownbarry is a townland in northwest Co. Wexford not far from the border with Co. Wicklow. The RC parish would be Bunclody (Newtownbarry). I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and there was a November 12 1844 baptismal record for a Patrick Byrne with father James Byrne and mother Mary McHughes. The family lived in Newtownbarry.

If you have not done so already, please complete our Meet and Greet form https://irelandxo.com/meet-and-greet Thanks!
