Michelle,
Ireland was part of the UK until 1922, so what you are technically looking for are passenger lists for travel to the UK. Unfortunately they weren’t a requirement till 1890, so probably there are no records for the journey you are interested in. But if they do exist, eg for 1890, they should be on Ancestry and fmp.
Michelle,
I will check on Ancestry but I need more info on William- age, place he was born, was he married (to whom), The name and age of child he was travelling with. Was the child his? When did he come to America. Did he stay in Ireland? Where?
This Iink shows a McCaIIion famiIy in the 1901 census in Derry. There is a 13 year oId daughter, Annie Mary, born in the U.S. I hope this heIps.
Hello,
William John (born in about 1857-1866 in Londonderry). He was married in the US and he returned as a widow with a small child born in 1888 (or about there). I know he was back in Ireland by 1891 because he remarried Mary Ann OKane. I am trying to find out more about the child and her mother. I thought maybe I could find out more from the passenger lists. The childs name was Annie Mary and she passed away in Ireland in 1902 - Williams second wife is listed as her mother on the death notice. William was killed in 1903 in New York at Castle Gould so I know he was traveling back and forth.
I am also searching Irish Newspapers for any publications about his death - they were living in Magerafelt at the time of his death (7/3/1903) I have New York reports in the Brooklyn Newspaper but it doesnt state where he was buried and I am searching for his burial place. I
Thank you

There’s a probate file for William in PRONI. He died intestate, so no will but there might be a little information in that file. Free to view if you go in person. Otherwise you need to pay someone to copy it.
Probate abstract: Administration of the estate of William John M'Callion late of Bellagherty County Londonderry Farmer who died 2 July 1903 at Port Washington Long Island U.S.A. granted at Londonderry to Mary Anne M'Callion the Widow.
The Valuation Revision records (on the PRONI website) show William John acquiring the Belagherty farm in 1899 (21 acres). Plot 10b. After his death he was replaced by Mary Ann McCallion who looks to have bought the freehold in 1906 under the Land Act.
Maybe, I found this record on Ancestry. Perhaps the names Ann and Mary were switched at some point.

Here is a BrookIyn death cert for a Bridget McCaIIan, IikeIy the mother of Mary Ann above. She died a few months after the chiId was born. It wouId make sense that the father returned to IreIand with the infant.
Thank you all for the help- this information is amazing. I appreciate all the time and effort.
Michelle
