O'Shea Shea - Thomas (Born24 AUG 1835) Tipperary

TipperaryMullinahone (Tipperary)

I'm tracing the O'Shea family from Kilvemnon,Mullinahone, Tipperary. My ancestor is Thomas, born 27/8/1835 to Thomas & Mary (nee EGAN) O'Shea. My Thomas migrated to Australia. I know there was a family farm at Kilvemnon and would like to trace the details of his parents & siblings. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Christine

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The RC parish of Mullinahone is in the Diocese of Cashel and Emly. Records for most of the parishes in that diocese are not on the subscription site Roots Ireland which is a primary source for RC records. Here is a link to the parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0277 ;  and records go back to 1809 but you have to manually search for baptismal records. The Mullinahone baptismal records are also on the subscription sites FindMyPast and Ancestry.com  Searching for the records is somewhat tedious but I did locate records on FindMyPast for three older siblings of Thomas: Catherine, Nelly and Mary. Transcriptions of the records are below. I did not locate a marriage record. Normally, the marriage was held in the bride's parish and I'm speculating that Mary was from another parish which does not have records back to the 1820s.

I also gave you the 1901 and 1911 census records for the family. You can also search the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie for civil death/marriage/birth records.

Let me know what questions you have.

I was just looking for information from and about Mullinahone when I saw the name O"Shea. My great, great, great grandmother was Bridget

O'Shea married to Patrick O'Sullivan. My only information about them is they were living in Mullinahone in Sept. 11, 1828 as their daughter, Ellen

(Nelly) O'Sullivan  was baptized that day at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mullinahone. They had a son, Joseph, baptized in the same place

March 13,1834. Their daughter, Ellen, gave birth out of wedlock to  a daughter, Ellen O'Sullivan Greene, father was Richard Green (a

baker). The baby  was baptized at St. Michael's on Dec 4, 1853. The older Ellen went to the USA  and left her baby to be rasied by her parents

probably when the  baby was an infant or toddler. She settled in Springfield, Illinois, married a man (James Guyer) that I think also came from

Ireland and had  5  more children. She  died from the effects of a rural home fire and requested on her death bed for the family to send for her

daughter, Ellen, to care  for the family.  They  did and she came in 1874, with a husband, William Joseph Walsh,( baptiszed July 18, 1846, St.

Mary's Catholic Church in  Clonmel) and baby  daughter, Ella,  and was expecting another baby. The family did well and became Florist in

Springfield, lllinois. Many  desendents still live in Springfield.

I would love to find more information regarding Bridget O'Shea and Patrick O'Sullivan, Joseph O'Sullivan plus the parents of Willlaim J.Walsh.

Their names were John and Ellen Baggen, Bagg, Bag and they lived in Tipperary County.
