O'Shaughnessy & McCarthy

Hi,

I am looking for information relationg to Patrick O'Shaughnessy (c. 1803 - 1877) and his wife Margaret McCarthy (died before Patrick). They lived in Prussia St., Dublin and had a son Patrick (c. 1853 - 1906) who was a cattle dealer and was married to Lucy Morris. Patrick and Lucy lived at Charleville Rd., NCR and prior to that at a number of addresses in and around Phibsboro.

Patrick (1853 - 1906) had a brother Michael who was mentioned in his will but I have found no other record of him. There were 2 other possible siblings - Mary (c. 1843 - 1877) and Daniel (c. 1857 - 1887). Both of these are buried with Patrick in Glasnevin but other than that I have made no direct connection. Given the locations, I am wondering if St. Peter's church in Phibsboro may be a possible source of information - it does not seem to be on the NLI parish registers?

Any other information would be welcome.

The Catholic Chapel at Phibsborough was part of the parish of St. Paul's based at Arran quay in the city, so that would be the parish to check for possible records. The parish has baptism and marriage records going back to 1730s with a few gaps.

I did not find a promising match for Patrick jnr's baptism in the available Catholic records - did he live to the 1901 census ? do you have a county of birth for him ?
edit : I think I see your Patrick in 1901 - cattle exporter, in Charleville Rd, Glasnevin , with wife Lucy - Patrick born "Co. Dublin", Lucy in Co. Tyrone. They married in Rathmines in South Dublin...unfortunately the parish records for Rathmines for this timeframe dont give residences of the parents.
