O'Neills, Neales or Neils of Mace, Corrandulla.

Trying to trace Mary, Michael and twins Honor and Bridget born to John Neil and Honor Keaney between 1843 and 1853. in Mace, Annaghdown.

It is possible that Mary married John Dooley and lived in Grange. It is also possible that John/Sean's father wasThomas. He did not live in Mace.

Any information would be most gratefully received. Thank You. Mary

Re Honor/Nora.

I have some information that Honor/nora was married and living in Parish in 1911. I dont have her married name.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your message.

Based on the 1862 marriage record of John Dooley and Mary Neale/O'Neill, it seems you are correct, as Mary's address is recorded as Mace, and there were no other families of that name in the townland.

Honor died in Mace in 1900 - you may have the death record already; if not it can be viewed at https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1900/05767/4629793.pdf

It seems very likely that Honor was a member of the Keaney family who lived in Mace. At the moment I can't find any further info on Michael, Honor or Bridget, but will continue searching.

Best wishes,

Paul.

Dear Paul, Thank you very much for your helpful response re Mary O' Neill and John Dooley and also for death record for Honor O' Neill nee Keaney which I did not have. We now know that Bridget who was born in 1853 went to Boston, Mass and married Henry Moylan there. He was also from Turloughmore Registration District. We still have no info re Michael or Bridget's twin Honor. I would be interested to find out about John, their father and his parents. I did hear that John's father was Thomas and his mother a Bridget Dooley but have no evidence. Many many thanks for your help. A very happy 2017 to you and yours . Mary

Dear Paul,

I now have received some information which suggests that Honor/Nora  married and was living in the parish in 1911.

Drumgriffin is a possible connection but I dont have her married name. She was visited by her sister and nephew from Boston at that time.

Any help in tracing her would be much appreciated. Honor/Nora born in 1853 to John and Honor O'Neill, Mace,Corrandulla. Honor was Bridget's twin..Mary.

Hi,

I too have O'Neill / Neale in my family tree. I have a Margaret Neale / Neil / O'Neill ( born abt 1855) with a father James Neale from Adrigoole, Annaghdown. Margaret Neale / O'Neill married a Michael Shaughnessy (born abt 1847) from Park Annaghdown in 1883. I wonder have you found a connection between your Neales and my Margaret?

Hi,

We continue to research O’Neill family from Mace, Annaghdown
We have established that Honor Neil , Bridget’s twin born to John Neil and Honor Keaney in 1853, went to New Zealand and married William Frederick Hogue.

We still can’t find Michael, born in 1845.

We are also searching for John( who was also known as Sean ) Neil’s parents. Hearsay suggests that his father was Thomas and not necessarily from Mace area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Many thanks.
Mary
