O'Neill Cavan with Leitrim connections

Cavan

This is a long shot. Anecdotally I have been told that Daniel O'Neill "of Cavan" (circa 1800) had two sisters (Catherine and Rose). Daniel married Eleanor (Nellie) Cole of Cattan Townland, Letrim. They have children recorded in Cattan from 1830's. Wondering if there is anyone looking for any O'Neills with this link? This Daniel had a son, John who was my great grandfather and all the line continues in Leitrim. John married Mary Masterson in Leitrim.

Welcome ti Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked our prior messages in our Cloone parish page and the parish page for Co. Leitrim and did not see any earlier messages for O'Neils.

I did check the subscription site Roots Ireland and was not able to find a church marriage record. I did locate transcriptions for baptisms for your great-grandfather and five younger siblings. Looks like the first Michael and the first Catherine died young. You may be aware but the Gortletteragh RC baptismal records have a gap between 1840-1848 so there were very likely more children born and baptized in the gap period.   Michael 1833 Catherine 1834 Michael 1834 Catherine 1836 Terence 1852

Here is the parish register:

Hoepfully someonew will see a connection with your O'Neil line. Have you considered DNA testing?
