O'Leary Confusion

Hello

I am searching for details on the husband of my 3rd G Grandmother. Her name was Maryanne Nugent whom I believe was born in Omagh, County Tyrone in 1806. She died in Adelaide, South Australia 11/4/1889. I have her married to a Dennis/Denis O'Leary born 1/8/1811 in Clogherean, County Kerry died in Adelaide, South Australia 13/11/1879. which seems to fit her obituary.

My confusion is with her husband. I have a marriage extract of my 2nd GGrandparents for 1870 in Naracoorte, South Australia which states that the groom's father was William O'Leary. 

Any help I can get with solving this would be appreciated as I have a relative visiting Ireland in 2026 and would like to visit the ancestral home/area of 3rd GGrandfather providing we have the CORRECT one. 

I have attached the marriage extract of my 2nd grandparents and the obituary of my 3rd grandmother.

Was Cornelius married twice? On his gravesite Mary Price is listed. Mary's maiden name was Ferguson.

Are you combining two different Cornelius? Perhaps the Cornelius you are researching father name was William. Do you have any document confirming his mother was Maryanne or Margaret Nugent?

On Ancestry there is an article about an O'Leary gathering in 2006, posted by a Kerry (I assume you), that highlights the memorial plaque being placed at Naracoorte Cemetery for Cornelius and his wife Helen.since there hadn't been a previous stone when they died in 1905/06.

I have been looking at this a little more in depth and have come to he conclusion that Dennis O'Leary and Margaret Nugent are not related. I am listing William O'Leary as Cornelius Daniel O'Leary's father. I am now on the search for his mother - William's wife. I think they came from Tipperary.

My Great great grandfather Cornelius Daniel O'Leary definitely married Helena McSweeney in Naracoorte. Your first response is not my Cornelius. It is hard because O'Leary was a common name and I am struggling to decipher who's who. I'll get there eventually I hope.

On another note if you can help - Helena McSweeney - Born in County Cork 1847. Arrived on the ship Hesperus landing at Portland Victoria in 1863 as a 16 year old and was employed in domestic work. I would love to know the circumstances of her arriving in Australia as a 16 year old. Thank you
