O'Kane/Gannon

Looking for any information concerning Patrick Thomas O'Kane and Catherine Gannon. Born late 18th century(?) in Ireland. Immigrated to New Brunswick, Canada, although I don't know the port of entry. They had a son in 1826 in Fredericton NB, Canada name Thomas Patrick O'Kane who married Mary Rebecca Winifred Cranney. They also had a daughter in 1816 named Isabella Ann O'Kane, also born in Fredericton. I am just beginning to trace the family tree, and have hit a wall.

Bill:

I think you will have difficulties finding information on your family in Ireland. I searched on a subscription site and a free site looking for the marriage record for Patrick and Catherine with no records found. Very few Irish RC parishes have records back before 1816. Have you searched on ancestry.com or familysearch,org for possible family trees which include Patrick and Catherine? Have you taken a general DNA test which may provide distant matches who have info on the origins of the family in Ireland?

Thank you for replying. Yes, I knew about the lack of records, and have been toying with the DNA route. It may be my only hope.

Could this be your Thomas??

Could very well be, I will check it out. Thank you very much!

Update: This Patrick was a farmer in that area, he had a son Hugh also a farmer. They appear in the 1871 census, but I am not sure of the connection. My Patrick was born in 1788, but the information is sketchy. From what I gather they moved to the MIramichi area about 1840. I will certainly keep this information close, as those old records are so error-prone. Thank you again, everything helps.

Hi Geometry Dash Scratch!

Check or look up the information at the church where the information is kept, there is a high chance you will find what you want.
