It would be helpful if you could provide some more information. Do you know your great grandparents' names? Any approximate dates. Do you know your grandparent's name? Were they born in Cork? When/ where they got married? To whom?

The following from the Surnames of Ireland by Dr. Edward Mac Lysaght:

ODELL - An English name, formerly ODLE and quite incorrectly written O'Dell, connected with Co, Limerick since the mid seventeenth century.

Are Samuel O'Dell and Ann Coughlin your great grandparents? If so, Ancestry has records for this couple. Samuel was born in India in 1870.

Perhaps Samuel's first wife. Catherine died in 1901.

Ann and Samuel had a son in Kinsale, Cork in 1904, Samuel G. O'Dell. You can find record on Irishgenealogy. At some point before 1907, they moved to Broughton, Lancashire, England and added to their family.

Curious, was Samuel. G. O' Dell's father born in Limerick? Samuel's father, Samuel, died in India in 1870. He was born abt. 1839. Samuel (1839-1870) and Ann Jane/ Jane Ann had another child in India in 1866, Henry Arthur. Jane Ann McManon O'Dell, father-Owen McManon, married, after Samuel's death, Richard Watts in India in 1871.

Your great grandfather's mother must have died before 1881 because he shows up living with Richard Watts in 1881 in England with, I assume, his new wife Sarah.

Hi Mary wow thank you ,I have no idea ,my gran only said her great grandad was a monk from sasketechewan French but gave up the church moved to Ireland and his name was Sacha toulier but that's a guess in spelling .wow Mary you are brilliant I'm so appreciated. I'm hoping to come to Cork this year to see my roots .is there any evidence of my coughlan family ? I absolutely think your brilliant .bestest regards

Since we don't know which country Ann/ Ann Jane/ Jane Ann was born, she is difficult to research. Ancestry suggests this might be her.
