Hi, I am looking for the Oates family ancestors I believe to have been from Tipperary. The earliest person I have is Jonathon Oates, born in about 1806. His wife was Ellenor Kennedy. I have been unable to progress with his line.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Kate
Kate:
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and located a February 1 1824 baptismal record for a Christopher Oats father John Oats mother Helen Kennedy RC parish Carrick on Suir.
I also found a December 14 1798 baptismal record for an Ellen Kennedy in Carrick on Suir father Michael Kennedy mother Honora Kelly. I did not find a record for John Oates.

Thank you so much
How can I view these?
I will look into it
Cheers, Kate
Kate:
Here is the parish register for Carrick on Suir RC parish https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1101 ; You will need to brush up on your Latin.

Kate,
Hello, I too am looking for Oates in Ireland. It is believed my great-great grandparents came to the United States from Ireland. I am attempting to trace now with minimal information.
