Nugent family

LouthDundalk (Louth)

Hi, I'm new here and looking for ancestors of my grandfather, Frederick George Nugent Jr. son of Frederick George Nugent (b. May 21, 1976) and Margaret Hamilton. Frederick Sr's father was Richard Nugent with wife Jane Moore (m Dec 27, 1855 in Muckno, Mon. I was told Richard and Jane Moore had 13 children but I can only find the names Robert Moore Nugent, Edith Moore Nugent, Margaret Hamilton Nugent and Thomas Hamilton Nugent. I believe all were born in Louth except for Thomas who was born in Down. I was told mygrandfather had an uncle (or great uncle) who was Robert Moore Nugent, a noted American soldier. He also had a cousin, Elizabeth Nugent. I believe both Elizabeth and my grandfather immigratedto Canada (do not know the year.) I have documents that place the family In 1901 in Cromac Ward, Antrim, South Belfast, Lawrence St, Barony: Upper Belfast, Parish Shankhill, Sub district: Donegall Pass.

I am planning a trip to Ireland and would love to have as much information as possible and maybe even find long lost family.

There is an 1855 Muckno marriage record of Richard Nugent on www.rootsireland.ie/ but the wife is Margaret Hamilton:

However, there are no children's births or baptisms for this couple!

There are 4 for Richard Nugent & Margaret Moore - all from Antrim:

I couldn't find a birth/baptism for Frederick.

The Tithe Applotments (free online) have 10 Nugents in Louth in the 1830's & Griffiths Valuation has 5 in Dundalk in the 1850's.

I did find one child of Richard & Jane:

There are 20 burial records of Nugents in Louth from 1758 to 1879 but no Fredericks, Richards or Roberts.

There are 61 in Antrim from 1688 to 1997 but still the above forst names aren't there!

Several of your Nugent Christian names and spouses tickled my memory. I spent 10 years building our

Nugent Family Tree from 0940 in Nogent-le Rotrou in France up to today (http://www.nugent.fr). 

Several of my recent ancestors were named George Frederick Nugent, and the connections to the Moore family

were frequent. Maybe we have common ground. Due to the 100-year restriction on publishing live members

of the family, You can't openly see the section 1700-today, which may interest you.

                 I just thought you were interested in knowing my mum and I are doing our family tree and your family and my family might be related but we are having problems finding a few Nugents. Here are the names we have so far and their information.
