Nora McBride

I am searching for my grandmother, born in Ireland, who immigrated to the USA. Her death certificate states she was born in County Cavan but I do not know that for a fact. County Cavan has come up several times in documentation but nothing that can be substantiated.

Name: Nora McBride

Birth date according to Ancestry.com: January 1, 1874 I have also seen documents with a birth year of 1873.

Father: Bernard (Barney McBride)

Mother: Nancy (Annie) Cassiday

Husband: James William Haran (Also Hearne, Haren, Harren, Harn)

James William, my grandfather, was also born in Ireland, County Sligo about 1857. He immigrated to the USA approx. 1882 and worked on the railroad. He married my grandmother Nora in Laramie, Wyoming, USA in 1895. They had 3 childrent in Wyoming. They then moved to Butte, Montana, USA 1900-1901 where James worked in the mines, They had 4 more children in Butte, Montana.

James, Nora, Bernard and Nancy are all buried in Butte, Montana, USA, I have seen their headstones.

I am looking for a birth or baptismal record for Nora but have no idea what parish or even if she was born in County Cavan.

James, I can find no birth in Ireland of Nora to those parents, I can find no marriage of those parents nor any children registered or baptised to those parents. Irish civil records commenced for all in 1864 and all records for this period can be view free online here post 1864, I could not find a suitable death either, I did not check the census of 1901 nor 1911 both free online also. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Church records for this site are limited so only civil if you want to check yourself.

I did locate a Norah McBride deceased in 1874 in England age 1 so not her, also two other Nora's born but no parents listed, one in the Isle of WIght and the other in Suffolk I think, an Eleanor and a Honoria both have Nora as a variant.

There are too many Nora McBride on the migration records without an approximate year, I saw her 2nd marriage in Montana, she got around.

There are two James Haran's born in Sligo parish of https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0136 RC register of parish, search by event and month / year and read. James born to a Thomas and Maria Henry baptised on the 6th Jan 1855 and also to a Catherine Bourke, father John, 15th July 1858, you can see the parish here, partly in Mayo also https://www.townlands.ie/sligo/kilmacteige2/ ;

If we locate the migration record we may get more information, I am assuming she was either RC or Church of Ireland (Anglican) Cavan had a lot of smaller Presbyterian religions whose records may not be online.

Good Luck

Pat
