My Irish Brick Wall; Dennis Kelly and Elizabeth Kelly
Hello, all, I'm almost ready to give up searching. Been at it for 3 yrs everyday. Here is my brick wall. Dennis Kelly is my maternal great grandfather who was born in Ireland in the 1840's. I believe around 1860, he left for the USA, Philadelphia, Pa. I found him in the 1870 census living with a William Kelly. At some point he met Elizabeth Brophy, possibly from Kilkenny, who also came to Philadelphia, Pa. Dennis and Lizzie married n Jan., 1876. I think they had 6 children with their first born, Michael, born shortly after birth. Their other children were Mary Grace, Margaret, John Thomas, Elizabeth Florence( my grandmother), and Dennis Francis. Dennis, Sr. Owned a grocery store in north Phila. At some point, Lizzie had a candy store. Dennis Kelly died in October, 1892. Elizabeth died in 1923. I have tried most combinations of parents that I found.... nothing matches. I think Dennis had siblings William, Patrick and maybe a sister, Ellen. Lizzie had siblings Bridget, Catherine, James and Patrick. Most of them also came to Phila. Spouses surnames were Connelly, Toomey andColbert that I know of. If anyone has any information on my grandparents, Dennis Kelly and Elizabeth Kelly, I would certainly appreciate you sharing with me. I did hire a genealogist while visiting Cobh but he found nothing. Happy Holidays and thanks for considering my request. Maria
