My Ancestors
Is anyone familiar with the surname Drimmie?
My ancestors emmigrated to Canada and passed through Ireland for a period time, I think it would be in the mid 1850's.
Can anyone help with some information?
Thanks

Ken:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked the Griffiths Valuation from the mid-19th century and there was one Drimmie household in Co. Kildare as follows:
John Drimmie in Ballynamony townland in Kilkea civil parish Co. Kildare.
There were also four Drimmy households in Co. Cork in three different parishes.
Can you give us more specifics on your family?
Thanks!
Roger McDonnell
I have heard of a John Drimmie mentioned and Ballynmony kind of rings a bell too.
The name Drimmie has had many variations in spelling (Drimmy, Drummy, Drum) and probably more than I can recall now.
The Drimmie name is rather uncommon, so it would not surprise me if these names in Co. Cork are not a relative also.
They came to Canada and settled in Ontario, my dad came from the town of Dundalk in Ontario and settled in Sask. in the early 1900's
I do have relatives that I am aware of in Ontario, but the Irish connection I have very little knowledge of.
An Irish friend put me in touch with this site, I thank him.
Thank you Ken
