Patricia , much obliged , thus is indeed my 3GGM, Anne O’Brien (1796 -1876) who indeed married Daniel Noonan on Feb 24 in 1824 in Galbally but I need to learn about her mother as I know not even her name ,and her midden name nor DoB, DoM or DoD or burial location ? Can you continue helping me ? Cheers 🇦🇺
Tim,
UsuaIIy the third daughter was named after the mother, but in this case there are onIy two daughters. UnIess there was another daughter born during the six years between Denis and Ann.
There does not seem to be any marriage records for the time Denis O'Brien Sr. and his wife married.
My suggestion is that you may find your ancestor's name in her chiIdren's records. Have you seen marriage and death records for aII of the O'Briens? They often name the parents.
I hope this is heIpfuI.
Cheers, Patricia . Will look at DoB of each of five children . The middle daughter , Anne, my 3 GGM, , married Daniel Noonan on Feb 10 1824 in Galbally but all parents’ names are left blank - two sponsors are brother of bride and groom respectively , Morgan Brien and Thomas Noonan .
There was a Morgan Brien in the Tithe Applotment Book in Duntryleague 1830 but that might be his son.

Traditional Naming Conventions
Irish families historically used a strict naming pattern to honor ancestors and maintain family continuity. Typically, the first son was named after the paternal grandfather, the second son after the maternal grandfather, the third son after the father, and subsequent sons after other male relatives. For daughters, the first daughter was named after the maternal grandmother, the second daughter after the paternal grandmother, and subsequent daughters after the mother or other female relatives. This system was widely used up to the mid-20th century and often continued among Irish immigrants for a few generations.
Records from RootsIreland
I believe Morgan married a Mary Hennessey in 1823. Their children were- Patrick 1824, John 1826, Michael 1832, Morgan 1835, Margaret 1836, Denis 1841, Jeremiah 1844 (sponsor Ann Noonan). Ann and Daniels' children were Margaret 1825, Thomas 1827, Ann 1830, John 1832, Daniel 1835, Michael 1837, Mary 1839.
Based on naming patterns mother might have been Margaret. Father might have been Patrick or John.
Information from RootsIreland- Another marriage to look at. There was a Morgan Brien married to Ally (Sally) Beckham (Beckett) in 1813. Children- Margaret 1815, Margaret 1819 (Winifred Brien sponsor), Denis 1821 (Ann Brien sponsor), Morgan 1823 (Catherine Brien sponsor), Ann 1824 (Denis Brien sponsor), Ellen 1828, Morgan 1830, Winefred 1833

Mary , many thanks for all your work on my family uncovered on the O’Brien clan . Might I further ask you for marriage certificate of both brothers , Morgan D and Denis O’Brien as well as the death certificates for both ? Is it likely the mother’s name might appear on either ? I’m also interested in the youngest sister , Winifred. Who married Richard Hourigan (1790-1854) in 1815, Feb 6.? They had 7 children but I know of only 3 , Edmund (1821-1859), Richard (1826-1873) and Denis ( 1834-1873). Richard Hourigan father died in Australia in 1854 but don’t know where and how he died ? Sorry for barrage of QQ. Much appreciated . Tim Murphy 🇦🇺
Tim,
Note these are just suggestions. They might have married someone outside of Galbally Parish

Tim,
I have not found Morgan and Denis' death records. Some trees on Ancestry suggest they died around 1850 with no supporting documentation. Perhaps they reviewed their children marriage records and found father deceased. I did not find a death record for Winifred. Denis and Richard both went to Victoria Australia in 1853. They both died around 1873-74 and are buried at Geelong Eastern Cemetery.
Regards- Mary
Mary , much obliged for all research on my behalf . I’ll continue looking for my 4GGM, married to Denis Brien (1759-1828), Duntryleague , Limerick. One of their son’s, Morgan, children was sponsored by Catharine Brien- could she well be the elusive 4GGM? Or it could a paternal great aunt or a paternal great uncle’s wife, siblings of 4GGF!!!!
