Murray, Donovan, Dowd

I’m searching for my Great great grandfather- James Murray (Murry) born (in Ireland) 4/1853. S/o Thomas (born in Ireland- unk year) and Elizabeth Boylan (possibly Byler) (born in Poland unk year). They married in 1853.

James emigrated in 1872 (I believe to NY) but I don’t know from where. He listed it on a legal document but didn’t recall the name of the ship.

James married Mary Donovan born 8-1857, born in Ireland. D/o Margaret Dowd born in Ireland.

she emigrated from Ireland in 1874 to NY , I believe. She and James married a year later, in 1875.

James and Mary settled in Plains, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA. They died in same

James died 7/10/1907. Mary died 9/29/1929.

I can’t find anything more, I don’t know anything more and hoping someone can assist.

EDIT: I found a Pennsylvania census record from 1910. She was listed as a widow, aged 50, last name was spelled Murry, living on Helen Street, (all of this and the other household members are correct) and it says she come to this country in 1884 (I don’t think that is correct) There was a Jerry Donovan listed in the home as a border, he was aged 55 and it says he come to the country in 1885. This could possibly be her brother?

Hi

I have checked out Ancestry, Irishgenealogy, and RootsIreland (paid subscription) and have not found where James and Mary come from in Ireland. Maybe someone else will find. Have you found James and Marys' marriage record? Have you found Mary's death record? How do you know Margaret Dowd is her mother? Have you checked out her children's marriage or death records? Sometimes they include the specific location of where the parent is from. On the 1910 Census Mary Murrey, widow, along with her children had a boarder living with them, Jerry Donovan, b.1855. arrival 1885. Could he be a relative or brother?

I Iooked at James's death record and at the 1900 federaI census. In both instances, it is indicated that his mother was born in IreIand, not PoIand. I wonder was poor handwriting for "IreIand" interpreted as "PoIand"?

Hi,

Have you done any DNA testing to figure out where James and Mary came from?

@MaryTV

i have done DNA testing but it doesn’t tell me where they come from. It tells me what % I am and it tells me which parent I got it from. See below
